CLASS BUZZ
Beginners:
Beginners started a new session in January and are doing great. We are having a blast learning all the dances on the Steppin' Out playlist so we'll be able to join in on the fun on the floor at the upcoming social dance in Beverly Hills. We are currently working on Broken Stones, Eye Candy and Country as Can Be....and reviewing Rita's Waltz, Stealing the Best, Would You be Vine and Stroll Along Cha Cha.
Open dancing includes Who's Been Sleepin' in My Bed, Mamma Maria, Let's Chill and by request Electric Slide. We have also danced several different mixer dances.
Improvers:
We are working on Everybody's Here, great country music and we love the arc into the weave section, also 3-D by Maurice Rowe, a fun dance to pop music. We reviewed Under the Sun and Dream of You (class really likes this one) We've also worked on Do it Again, Higher & Higher, Tailgate, Like it Rough and Love You Waltz.
Intermediates:
We're learning lots of new dances already this year and continue reviewing them so we will remember. New last week was Shoes of Another Man by Jo Thompson Szymanski (great dance!). We are reviewing BCO (Baby Come On) by Rachael McEnaney. Maurice's new dance I Love Lucy ....cool west coast beat and a dance that is an easier intermediate level. Love Ya (Robbie McGowan Hickie & Kate Sala) Fantastic dance....sure to be a keeper! Kinda Busy (Craig Bennett).....liking this one better the more we dance it, matches the beat perfectly. Sea of Heartbreak (Niels Poulsen)...nice smooth flowing easier intermediate dance (everyone likes this one) Regresa (Ruben Luna).....has that Latin flair to it and the music is fantastic! Quick teaches of a few improver level dances so we can join them on the floor - Dream of You and Everybody's Here.
Thirsty Gator's Bar:
Mix of new and old favorites, lots of country with a little mix of everything....all levels welcome. Thursdays is all about fun on the floor!!
Early teach (about 6:30) for the intermediates. We have worked on Shoes of Another Man, I Love Lucy, Regresa, Dream of You, Love Ya, BCO, and Kinda Busy.
7PM - Everybody's Here (Gaye Teather)... 3D ...good feedback on this one.... and Sea of HeartbreakI think everyone likes this nice smooth dance to a 2-step beat....Electrified by Jan Wyllie......we dance this one to Tik Tok.
Open dancing included Askin' Questions, Mars Attack, My Maria, Tailgate, Tush Push, Playing with Fire, Stroll Along Cha, Cupid Shuffle (learned another way of doing this one from the barmaid too), Country Walkin', Sugar Kane, Heads Up Ho Down, Cadillacs & Caviar, Cowboy Casanova, Like it Rough, Regresa and more.
