***Important information***
Due to an injury, All classes at the Citrus County auditorium and SweetH2O have been canceled until further notice....it looks like we will be starting again in September.
John and I had a wonderful start to our vacation visiting my family in West Virginia - my parents, my sister, brother and respective spouses in Williamson and my Uncle and Aunt in Beckley. We left there on Wed. morning May 14th heading back to Florida. Our plans were to take a few days and stop at several areas of interest along the way....some of the signs we see every time we make that trip.
Our first and consequently last stop was Natural Tunnel State Park in Duffield, Virginia, about 13 miles north of Gate City and 20 miles north of Kingsport, Tenn. (This is only about a 3 hour drive from my parent's home, but we had never stopped there) The tunnel is more than 850 feet long and as high as a 10-story building, Natural Tunnel was naturally carved through a limestone ridge over thousands of years. It's called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” What a beautiful park!
It was a rainy day, but that didn't stop us. I carried my umbrella and up the mountain we went to the high overlook to see the scenery from there.
We then decided to make the trip down the steps, build from railroad ties, to the bottom to get an up close look at the tunnel.
My feet slipped out from under me (I know I should have been holding the rail!) That fall made this our last vacation picture. I tease John that it was like in the movies....4 people carrying a stretcher out of the woods and he didn't even get a picture! <grins>
I took my first ambulance ride and hopefully my last. I was taken to a Level 1 Trauma hospital in Kingsport, Tenn. and consider myself lucky that I only have a spinal fracture...it could have been so much worse!
I might also have a fractured tailbone, sitting is a little uncomfortable but I'm discovering some little tips for the best positions.
I'm now getting to wear one of those "stylish" back braces....gorgeous metal bars and white padding....I know all of you will be jealous! It will be added to my attire daily for the next 3 months.....I should develop great posture from it!
Other than the normal, first"pity me party", I refuse to let this get me down.....I'll call it a summer break... watch out in September.......I'll drive all of you nuts playing catch up with the dances we'll miss.
I'll use "Crankster's Class Buzz" for a buzz section to keep you informed on my progress and some tips of dances to check out and road trips to make during my absence... please take this time to visit another class with one of the Steppin' Out instructors.
I'll be at the big Anniversary Celebration dance for Steppin' Out this Friday......I know I can't dance, but I wouldn't miss this party for anything! I'll have the camera snapping away catching you on film! Stop by and chat with me a few minutes in between your favorite dances. See you there!
